SPRINGHILL
DADS v PRIMARY SCHOOLS
by
Scoop
-
- The
annual clash of the titans? The Dads were going to have to face
their arch enemy with out a defence and someone who rang up to
say their Mum isn't too well but Suzy didn't catch the name on
the ansaphone and Scoop hasn't the nous to successfully wrastle
with the controls. Just have to wait and see who doesn't turn-up.
Also unable to make it are Les Maros and John Willis - both with
muscle strains.
- - Tim is unable to play as he's just
undergone a 'small' surgical procedure and will be a little
tender for a while!
-
- Luckily
the Mojos have turned up with half a side so all is not lost.
They also had a few familiar faces in their side, Jon Clarke
started in goal (just getting over a bad back), Johhny Jordan,
Simon and Pikey. Rob Frisby couldn't make up his mind who to play
for so he arrived for the end.
-
- Eh, wot?
We've only got half a pitch as well? Some protracted
consultations with the booking girlie didn't make any difference,
'you'll just have to make-do!' The Dads and the Mojos agreed to
play with 9-a-side and let the result stand towards the league.
SPRINGHILL
DADS
Rob Thorpe
Paul Hanvey - Martin Kingsbury - John Elms
Alan Aburrow - John Frisby - Mark Shipside - John Lynch
Dave Smith
Subs; Jason Furness and Dave Hedges
- - The sides kicked off with out any
preamble, so when the Mojos knocked one from inside the 'D', it
was disallowed and the game continued in confusion. Then Johnny
Jordan scored with Mark Shipside standing inside the 'D'. He
demanded the goal be ruled out and that he should be given a
penalty. The Dads were delighted to oblige and he duely obliged
by blasted over the bar.
-
- The Dads
began a proccess of revolving the subsitutes which kept everyone
involved and allowed the old one a rest now and then.
-
- Jason
lost possession - Mojo shot into side-netting.
-
- Mark was
holding the left side and cut out a through ball which John Lynch
put through for Jon Elms to chase . . . he is getting on a bit,
now.
-
- John
Frisby crossed to Jon Elms on the edgee of the 'D'. He stuttered
with the ball caught up under his legs and fell over into the
'D'. Most undignified! Dave Hedges, following up, shot - Jon
managed to block his goal bound rocket while lying prostrate in
front of goal. If he couldn't score . . . . .
-
- Just to
show no grudges, Dave Hedges set it up for Jon Elms . . . . .
fence busters!
-
- Some
nifty passing and Dave Hedges passed to Jon Elms. With the keeper
committing himself to the left JON ELMS placed it with his left
foot into the bottom right corner.
-
- Martin
passed to Dave Hedges who squared it to Jon Elms, his shot was
saved at the foot of the post.
-
- Jon Elms
had played that morning and was feeling a little puffed so he
came ofF for a rest. When Mal told him that the goals count
towards the golden boot he suddenly got a second wind and was
quickly back into the action after dragging off John Frisby with
a verbal assault.
-
- A Mojo
breakaway found Robbie and Martin asleep, a square ball to Johnny
Jordan who scored with diagonal drive into the net.
-
- A Dave
Smith cross to JON ELMS and an instinctive strike through Clarkie
open legs, in goal.
-
- A Mojo
defender put under pressure by Dave Smith and he was forced to
back header/lob to the keeper - the ball went over the keeper and
sneaked in at the post. Cue Clarkie to get fed up and come out of
goal to join the fun.
-
- I hate to
say it but this coincided with a Mojo revival and Martin had to
hack away from one attack. Then Clarkie, himself maked a Ronaldo
type run on goal but shots over.
-
- Jason
played a sneaky reverse side footed clearance on the edge of the
'D' which went straight to a Mojo forward. Robbie had to pull of
a good save at the foot of his near post.
-
- Robbie
made a clean take from a corner and threw the ball out to JON
ELMS who he'd spotted making a run. With the Clarkie and the Mojo
defence involved in a heated debate with someone on the side of
the pitch Jon, unabashed, homed in on goal and lashed it home.
-
- Robbie
had to make a clearance right at edge of area - to Simon who's
shot was headed away by Jon Clarke(?) but that didn't stop
Clarkie (blushingly) from taking the corner. Robbie even managed
to save a goal bound lob, for once.
-
- Robbie
was getting a pounding, mow and Paul bundled over Johnny Jordan
in one moment of madness. Johnny claimed the free kick, spotted
the ball and shot all in one moment. 'Hardly in the true
corinthian spirit, what!' Johnny's shot caught out the Dads and
Robbie who were still trying to think of a reason why he
shouldn't get the free kick.
-
- The Mojos
were all over the Dads, now and after Jon Clarke made a solo goal
running in from his own half the Dads were forced to blow up
promptly for time.
FULL TIME
